Pastor William C. Morgan

William C. Morgan was born on November 9, 1953 in Manhattan, New York.  He was reared by his mother, the late Helen Jones Morgan of Brooklyn, N.Y. and his grandmother, the late Jettie Brown Jones of Valdosta, Georgia.  His early childhood education was acquired at Lowndes County’s P. G. Williams Elementary and West Side High School.  Upon returning to New York he continued his education at Brooklyn, New York’s Boy’s High School, graduating in 1971.  Following high school he joined the Armed Forces and served over 3 years and 4 months as a member of the United States Army’s Medical Corp.  With honorable discharge papers in hand, he joined the United States Postal Service on September 10, 1976.  After 32 years of service, Dr. Morgan retired from the Postal Service on November 30, 2008.

 In 1980, with the support of his wife, Altamese, He enrolled at Valdosta State College (now Valdosta State University) graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Speech Communication and in 1989 with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

On Thursday September 12, 1991, the Lord called Pastor Morgan into the Gospel Ministry.  He was licensed and ordained under the leadership of the late Pastor Otis Columbus Pitts, after serving the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church for 7 years (August 1984 – September 1991) as a deacon.  On Friday, November 19, 1993, he was called to the Pastorate at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Valdosta, Ga., where he continues to serve.

Striving to obtain increased knowledge of the Lord and the requirements necessary for leading God’s people, he enrolled and graduated (June 2002) from the Bethany Bible College and Theological Seminary of Dothan, Alabama with a Doctorate of Theological Studies Degree.  In December 2012 he graduated from Andersonville Seminary in Camilla, Ga. with a Doctorate of Ministry Degree (Pastoral Leadership).

In addition to his charge as a servant of God and Pastor of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Morgan has served as Chairman of the Eastern Division Union and Moderator of the South Georgia Missionary Baptist Association. He served eight years (2005-2012) as Secretary of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia; Inc. Doctor Morgan is also an instructor at the Genesis Bible College of Valdosta, Ga.  He also is the instructor of a monthly Ministers Class and a monthly Deacons Class.  He has also served seven years as a volunteer Chaplain at South Georgia Medical Center.     

He is married to his lovely wife of 42 years, Altamese Hunter Morgan (of the Bronx, New York).  Together they have reared to adulthood eight children:  Sharisse (Joey), Janeen, Josie (James), Janice (Ransom), Wallisha (JaVon), Lewis, Clarese (Nickolas), and Alexis.  God has blessed Pastor and Sis. Morgan with six grandsons and one granddaughter Andrew (Janice), who is 16 years old, Matthew (Janice), 10 years old and Elizabeth (Janice) 3 year old; Andre’ (Clarese) 6 year old, Caleb (Clarese, deceased) and Morgan (Clarese) 3 year old; and Maxwell (Josie) 4 months old.  Dr. Morgan also has a sister Helen Joy Morgan who provide unending love and support.
